Lightweight spool without brake unit
000 |
Shimano original new brake mechanism.
Pursuing the lightest spool of bait finesse.
To handle lightweight lures, weight reduction of the spool is the most
important issue.
However, conventional braking systems have limitations.
"FTB" originally developed by Shimano, by removing the brake unit from the spool,
We realized the lightest spool in Shimano bait finesse reel history.
In addition, it is equipped with a magnet moving mechanism that changes according
to the number of rotations. A new brake system that can flexibly
support from pitching to overhead casting. |
Unitless spool |
Detachable magnet |
Eliminate the brake unit from the spool unit. Realized
a lightweight spool without waste (spool weight
excluding BB is 7.5g). This enables a low trajectory
approach in pitching, which is the original
usage of bait finesse. |
A total of 8 magnets are attached, 4 on each side
when shipped. Since the magnets in two places
can be attached and removed, the braking force
can be further reduced. It can also be used
to cast lighter weight lures. |
Magnet moving mechanism |
|
|
Magnet position control according to the number
of revolutions is realized by a completely new idea.
As a result, we have succeeded in approaching
the centrifugal braking characteristics that Shimano
has been pursuing, and it has become possible
to handle from pitching to overhead without trouble.

External brake adjustment |
|
By sliding the brake unit with an external dial,
the braking force changes steplessly from zero
to maximum. It can be adjusted to the optimum
braking force under all conditions. |
The brake is activated by placing a magnet
inside the area where the spool is not blanked.
